Modaso Energy launches – connecting technology, finance and industry

Unlocking reliable, affordable clean power, solving traditional grid integration challenges with innovative baseload renewable solutions.

The newly formed Modaso Energy has officially launched, with ambitions to become a leading player in Africa’s energy transition.

Modaso is developing world-class renewable energy projects that are unlocking Africa’s unique potentional to power both communities and industry, positioning Africa as the preferred place for new industrial projects.

Africa’s has exceptional renewable energy resources and potential, and huge demand for access to reliable, affordable electricity.

By leveraging falling renewable costs, significant advances in battery storage, and by optimising Africa’s unique co-located wind and solar resources, Modaso’s hybrid power projects deliver round-the-clock, clean, low cost baseload power that is addressing traditional grid integration issues.

“Africa is poised to leapfrog traditonal power grid limitiations. By unlocking its immense renewable energy potential, the continent has huge potential for sustainable economic growth,” says Modaso CEO Ramy Lotfy. “We are creating a new generation of projects that deliver clean and reliable power where it’s needed, supporting industrial and economic growth across the continent.”

The company’s approach builds on a powerful convergence:

  • Dramatically reduced renewable energy costs have made solar, wind, and hydro more competitive than fossil fuels.
  • Improved storage economics are enabling renewables to operate as dependable baseload power.
  • Africa’s abundant resources remain largely untapped, representing one of the world’s greatest growth opportunities.
  • The continent’s urgent need for reliable power is critical to driving industrialization, job creation, and economic resilience.

Modaso is already pursuing a pipeline of projects, working in partnerships with national utilities, governments, and private offtakers in industries such as mining, manufacturing, and technology. By delivering bankable, scalable projects that provide consistent renewable energy, the company aims to accelerate Africa’s economic growth while ensuring a sustainable future.

“Our mission is simple but bold: to deliver reliable, affordable, clean power to communities and businesses across Africa,” added COO Charles Haworth. “We believe baseload renewables will define the next phase of Africa’s energy transition — and we intend to lead the way.”
